Explore The Castle

A must-do on the list for all visitors to Eastnor Castle is to explore the castle. Eastnor Castle is a 19th Century revival castle built by the 2nd Baron (Lord) Somers, later 1st Earl, between 1810 and 1824. Eastnor Castle continues to be inhabited by his descendants and is a grade 1 listed building.

Eastnor Castle is now the home of the Hervey-Bathurst family, grandsons of Arthur Cocks, 6th Baron Somers and is surrounded by a beautiful arboretum and lake. It has richly decorated interiors containing medieval armour, fine art and tapestries.

Visitors who explore the castle can view the magnificent state rooms including the Great Hall, State Dining Room, Gothic Drawing Room, Octagon Saloon and a number of the opulent bedrooms. Visitors are invited to enter the Castle through the magnificent main doors.

There are friendly, experienced and well informed guides in all of the rooms offering information and history on the Castle. A wonderful guide book can also be purchased at the front door or at the visitor entrance as a souvenir.

Within the Red Hall sits a medieval knight’s helmet which visitors are invited to try on!

Allow around 1 hour for a leisurely walk around the Castle and be prepared to be amazed by the glorious views

For more information on the rooms available to view, please see the Castle Tour page.
