Eastnor Castle

Eastnor Castle Ice Cream Parlour

One of the little indulgences our visitors can enjoy on their day out in Herefordshire and to Eastnor Castle is a trip to our wonderful Ice Cream Parlour. Children and adults alike flock to the parlour on a sunny day (or even when the sun is hiding) to enjoy the delicious ice cream on offer.

The ice cream is made and supplied by a local company called Brooke’s Dairy. The ice cream flavours on offer are wonderfully varied and delicious, the perfect accompaniment to your day out.

If you are looking for even more refreshments, be sure to check out our Woodshed Cafe which offers takeaway hot and cold drinks, more ice creams, locally-made cakes and light snacks. Just some of the delicious food on offer includes local handmade sausage rolls, scotch eggs and samosas, alongside artisan paninis, warming soups and a wide selection of confectionery.

A Variety of Flavours

Some of the most popular ice cream flavours we usually serve in the Eastnor Castle Ice Cream Parlour include:

  • Welsh Gold
  • Toffee Crunch
  • Peppermint Chocolate Chip
  • Rum and Raisin

Brookes Ice Cream

The ice cream served is definitely a special one – and we are not the only ones to testify. According to Brooke’s website, HRH The Prince of Wales tried some and after sampling their “Welsh Gold” ice cream, he said, “One taste is never enough”.

Brooke’s started dairy farming in the Wye Valley in the 1970s. They now have 100 pedigree Jersey cows on their 300-acre farm in Wales; milked twice a day and produce the creamiest milk, perfect for ice cream. Every process from breeding the cows through to milking and turning the milk into ice cream happens on the farm.

They don’t use artificial colourings or preservatives, which is why the ‘Mint Chocolate Chip’ ice cream isn’t green and the ‘Strawberries and Cream’ ice cream isn’t bright pink! All of the ice cream products are suitable for vegetarians, Brooke’s doesn’t use palm oil, all are gluten-free and they don’t use any GM ingredients.

Your Day Out to Eastnor Castle

Whilst you are enjoying your day trip to the castle and enjoying your ice cream, there are lots of events and places we have to see and do. There are a variety of beautiful walks to enjoy among our grounds, amazing events throughout the year and the castle itself is sure to impress.

For the children, we have an adventure playground to enjoy alongside an exciting Knights maze to explore, a treetop walkway, little landrover cars and a junior obstacle course.

Eastnor Castle See More

“We went there yesterday and had a brilliant day out. We were so surprised that we were allowed to take our dog everywhere including the castle which was wonderful. It was such a positive place with hardly any signs telling you not to do stuff and it was brilliant seeing the children on the trees without being told to stop. Would definitely recommend this to everyone.”

Dogs Welcome

Eastnor Castle is very proud to be a Dogs Welcome tourist attraction and one of the few stately homes where dogs are welcome into its grounds and house.

If they are on a lead, your dog is welcome to wander with you when you visit, and every owner is offered dog waste bags on arrival. There is also a dedicated ‘Dogs-Off-Leads Area’ where dogs are free to run amongst the trees!
