Hereford is a city brimming with history; it lies on the River Wye, around 16 miles east of  Wales, 24 miles southwest of Worcester, and 23 miles northwest of Gloucester. Eastnor Castle

Located in Herefordshire and on the borders of Worcestershire is Eastnor Castle, a perfect location for a day out with the kids and all the family. Surrounded by a beautiful deer park, arboretum, and lake, Eastnor Castle is the historic home of the Hervey-Bathurst family with lots to offer.

We have something to do for everyone, including discovering the historic castle itself, walking our beautiful grounds, exploring a maze, having fun on our adventure playground and much more. We have a castle tearoom and our newly opened woodshed - offering a wide range of refreshments for you to enjoy throughout the day. We also have a variety of events throughout the year, including circus skills, family fun days, workshops and children's shows. 

Eastnor Castle is also a venue with a variety of options for a range of events. We are an esteemed castle wedding venue, offering couples the most magical setting for their special day. We also offer corporate events including team building days and are a party venue, the perfect location for any celebration.

Hereford Walks 

The post-pandemic population is increasingly keen on walking, for good reason. Getting out in the great outdoors is not only healthy for the body, but for the mind and soul too. Hereford and the surrounding area has lots of beautiful walks to explore, with a range of long and short to suit a variety of abilities. Some of these include:

  • Bodenham (2.5 miles / 4 kilometres)
  • Breinton (5.5 miles / 8.9 kilometres )
  • Capler (2 miles / 3.2 kilometres)
  • Hoarwithy (4.5 miles / 7.2 kilometres)

Walking is a free day out, you don’t need special equipment and it is the perfect way to catch up with family and friends. Herefordshire is a beautiful county and is an idyllic setting to get your walking boots on and enjoy mother nature.

If history is your thing, you don’t want to miss a visit to the magnificent Hereford Cathedral. Hereford Cathedral is the heart of a community that has worked and worshipped together continuously for over 1,300 years.

The building is a stunning piece of architecture, with intricate stained glass windows, art from all periods and beautifully crafted structures. There are many events held throughout the year for all to enjoy. 

The cathedral also offers a range of refreshments in their cafe, allowing you to relax in the unique historic space or even enjoy the outdoors in their Chapter House garden. If you want to take home a memoir of your visit, there is a cathedral shop with a wide range of souvenirs and gifts.

Chase Distillery

Herefordshire is the home of many well-known food and drink brands, including Chase - founded in 2008 by William Chase. Chase distillery produces a range of beverages, including vodka, gin and a variety of cocktails. 

A trip to the Chase distillery is a fascinating day out for all. Expert tour guides go into detail about the production of their gin and vodka, with tasters available to enjoy and a distillery shop for you to pick up your favourite products. The distillery is nestled in the Herefordshire countryside, a beautiful location to enjoy the outdoors especially during the summer months.

Hereford has lots on offer, including a wide range of shopping and dining experiences. As part of your day out in Hereford, a trip to the Old Market will allow you to explore something for all the family, with restaurants, a cinema, cafes and a range of clothing stores - all based in the centre of the city. 

Also centrally located in the city, The Butter Market is a hidden historic gem of Hereford. A charming, thriving indoor market with over 35 individual stalls offering something different and unique.
