Eastnor Castle Hosts an Enchanting Open Air Performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream

20 January 2014

After the unprecedented success of their inaugural season, The Lord Chamberlain’s Men, the most innovative theatre company of the moment, arrive at Eastnor Castle, near Ledbury on Friday 21st July with their enchanting open-air production of Shakespeare’s comic masterpiece ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.

Directed by the Royal Shakespeare Company’s award-winning Lucy Pitman-Wallace, once again the show promises to be as original and entertaining as last summer’s critically acclaimed ‘Macbeth’.  “The all-male cast offers audiences an unrivalled glimpse into how Shakespeare himself first envisioned his plays,” says Lucy, “and to my knowledge there’s nothing quite like it available to British audiences today.  It’s something very special indeed.”

The terrace at Eastnor Castle provides the perfect setting overlooking the lake and is an excellent opportunity for a picnic with friends and family.  This timeless tale of magic and comedy in beautiful surroundings, and performed in the unique style offers a theatrical experience not to be missed.
