THIS IS A PAST EVENT

Jan Rautio, the acclaimed Russian Pianist, is returning to Eastnor Castle on Friday 12th May at 7.30pm to perform a concert in support of the British Red Cross.  He will be accompanied by Jane Gordon (violin) and Katherine Jenkinson (cello) as the ‘Rautio Piano Trio’.  Jan gave solo performances at Eastnor in 2004 and 2005 and received praise from all those who attended. Born in Russia in 1980, Rautio began his musical education at the Gnesin Special Music School in Moscow. He started playing the piano at the age of four and gave his first solo recital just three years later. Jan came to Britain in 1993 where he made his London concerto debut in 1996 performing Shostakovich’s 2nd Piano Concerto in Fairfield Halls and a year later his conducting debut there with Beethoven’s Egmont Overture.

This promises to be an exceptional evening of classical music staged in the magnificent setting of the Great Hall of the castle, with works by Schubert, Haydn, Shostakovich and Ravel.
