Catering Supervisor

Job Title: Catering Supervisor, Eastnor Castle Enterprises
Department: Internal Catering
Reports to: Operations Manager
Staff Reporting to this Post: Internal Catering Staff

Summary of the role:

To be responsible for producing breakfasts for castle guests to include food preparation, service, food hygiene, staffing and stock  ordering.
To work in the Woodshed Café and deputise for the Woodshed Supervisor. 
The Catering Supervisor needs to be hard working, flexible, well presented and confident to serve guests at Eastnor Castle.  The position would be ideally suited to someone with previous catering experience but this is not essential.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • To cook and prepare breakfasts and all other in-house catering for castle guests.
  • Work in the Woodshed Café preparing food and drinks and serving customers.
  • Deputise for the Woodshed Supervisor.
  • To clear and wash up after preparing food and keep the catering areas clean and tidy.
  • To work weekends and early mornings.
  • Monitor stock levels and order/buy all items required to produce the in-house catering menus.
  • Complete all food hygiene documentation.
  • Communicate with the Operations Manager to ensure adequate staff are booked for all in-house catering events.
  • Monitor all equipment used for in-house catering and advise or any damages or equipment needing replacing.
  • Recommending improvements to menu’s and processes.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Financial, budgeting and stock-taking skills.
  • Knowledge of food, food hygiene (including hazard analysis and critical control points) and food preparation.
  • Good business and commercial acumen.
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene.

Person Specification: 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in a supervisory role.
  • Good levels of numeracy and literacy.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A background in catering.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of food, food hygiene (including hazard analysis and critical control points) and food preparation.

Hours of work:

  • Up to 40 hours a week.
  • 7 days of the week to include weekends and Bank Holidays.
